How and when can I prune Magical garden hydrangeas?
You don't really need to prune Magical hydrangeas. All you have to do is remove the old flowers. Leave the faded flowers on the plant in the winter and only cut them off when there is no more frost, around the end of March. These brown flower heads also look nice, swaying in the wind. If you think your Magical garden hydrangea is getting too overgrown, you can thin out the plant a little. Cut a few of the long stems to just above the ground. There will be no flowers from the shoots this year because a hydrangea only flowers on older wood. So make sure you leave some older branches in place, and these will be the branches that flower. Now they'll have a bit more room to flourish.
